Post-pandemic, I couldn't wait to experience the magic of a live concert again. I missed it almost as much as I missed my children being in school from 8 to 3pm. My reunion at the Gorge, the most beautiful venue in the U.S. (I may be a bit biased, but let me know if you agree) with one of my oldest friends was unforgettable. The energy of singing together with thousands of others is transformative, a stark contrast to the solitary music experiences during lockdowns. While there is always music playing and being created in the Hill House, going to see a show with strangers, has its own power.
Music has a profound connection to political movements and personal memories. When was the last time you attended a concert? Who did you see? Did you anticipate the date, purchase tickets eagerly, and dress up for the occasion? Did the music rejuvenate you, make you feel young and vital? Â Did it mark a special occasion somehow? Was it the first time you ever saw that performer or did it end up being the last time? Did you take a photo? Were you present? In your heart, your body and your voice were you entirely there?
This week’s Top 5 are reminders about how to get more live music in your lives.
Support Local Venues: Tickets are expensive! Frequent local bands and venues to keep your music scene thriving. If you don’t go, they won’t book a band. Then what? Then more silence and more headphones and more screen time.
Give the Gift of Music: Surprise someone with concert tickets instead of yet another item of clothing, candle, or the same $50 Amazon card we’ve all been passing around for the last decade.
See Ray Lamontagne and Gregory Alan Isakov: I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Once again, I may be biased.
Invest in More Experiences: Skip the merch table and t-shirt. Use the money to attend more concerts. Remember what I said before? Tickets are expensive.  I think I saw Nirvana for $15 at The Blind Pig in the 90’s and was mad I had to get a twenty dollar bill out of the ATM. Now you know how old I am.
Sing Along with Passion: Embrace the power of your voice and sing along wholeheartedly. Even if you don’t know all the words. It doesn’t matter. Nobody’s listening to you, they’re in their own space. Let your voice bring you home to yourself.
Oh and Nicki and I have tickets to see the Psychedelic Furs late this month. I mean what else would I want for my birthday?

Oh and remember, our Let Go and Begin workshop is on October 12. Tania and I would love to see you there.
All you need is your yoga mat, a pen, and an open heart. Come exactly as you are.
This unique experience offers you the opportunity to practice yoga both on and off the mat, encouraging you to release, surrender, and let go—just like the beautiful fall leaves. Give yourself the time and space to nurture your well-being and connect with a supportive community.
Autumn is the season to harvest all of your creative energy, and say yes to yourself in this busy time that requires so much of us. Nature is telling you to slow down, and we are too.Â
We look forward to sharing this transformative journey with you!
